About this forum

Sleeper Cab Forum opened in July 2025 for people who own a long-haul tractor with a bunk in the back, or who are about to buy one. Owner-operators leased on to a carrier, owner-operators running their own authority, and company drivers working out whether the jump pays. The big trucking groups are huge and loud. This one is small on purpose, and most of the people posting are reading it from a truck stop.

It is run by Ron T., mod_ron_t on the boards. Ron drove for 31 years, the last 14 as an owner-operator leased to a flatbed carrier hauling steel and lumber across the northern plains, and retired with about 2.9 million miles. He lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and reads the contact mailbox in the evenings. The forum is member run. Ron pays for the server out of his own pocket and nothing is for sale here.

House rules

  • Fill in your rig line: year, make, model, engine and rating, transmission, what you pull, and whether you are leased on or on your own authority.
  • Money threads need numbers. What you paid, rate per mile, fuel, insurance, what it cost to get the truck plated.
  • No recruiting, no load postings, no trucks or parts for sale. Recruiters are removed on their first post.
  • Nothing about getting around hours of service, ELD tampering or emissions deletes. Those posts are deleted.
  • Techs, dealer staff, carrier office people and brokers are welcome to answer questions. Put who you work for in your rig line. Anybody caught selling while pretending to be a driver loses the account.

Before you act on a post

Regulations, tax deadlines and torque numbers change, and the person posting them is usually typing on a phone in a truck stop. Read the rule on the FMCSA site, the deadline on the IRS or your state's page, and the spec in your engine maker's manual before you spend money on something you read here.
